About Ag Daily Money Management
Meet Anne Groth
I was the girl in school that loved math class: something about the need to be organized and use logic to solve a challenging problem. So, it came as no surprise to family and friends when I chose to study accounting at Villanova University or when I obtained my Masters Business Administration (MBA) in finance from Fordham University.
With my degrees in hand, I was drawn to the Big Apple. As an eager professional I began working for one of the big public accounting firms, Ernst and Young and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). While it was fun for a while, and the experience unparalleled, the long hours eventually prompted a career move to Prudential, where I managed an accounting department for several years.
Interestingly enough, during my years as a CPA, people always commented that I didn’t seem like an accountant. I think it was meant as a compliment: perhaps I wasn’t as boring as expected or that my fashion sense extended beyond a navy blue suit. I did eventually leave the profession to raise three amazing children and traded a salary for a seat on the board of the PTA and as treasurer of my son’s swim team.
During this time, I began to help my mother with her finances. Some of it was complex and other aspects more administrative, but either way she was overwhelmed at times. My mother would frequently tell me how lucky she was to have me handling her affairs. This was the impetus for a new meaningful career. Why not share my talents and integrity with others in my mother’s position and help provide some expertise as well as peace of mind?
